At Greyfell Academy we endeavour to involve Parents/Carers wherever possible in their child's learning and development. Parents/Carers are the first educators of children and it is through this that we will learn about the children's abilities and previous experiences. We recognise the values and beliefs of both families and in the wider community and ensure Parents/Carers are welcome at all times.
We believe at Greyfell Academy that working with Parents/Carers has a very positive effect on the children's development and learning. Working in partnership with Parents/Carers enhances the relationships of everyone involved within the setting. Out team are available at all times during the nursery day for Parents/Carers to contact should they need to.
We aim to work with Parents/Carers in a wide variety of ways including:
- Our admission and settling in process
- Key worker partnerships
- Online learning journals where Parents/Carers can add observations and photos
- Parent/Carer notice boards with information/leaflets about nursery and community events
- Daily diary/record books that go home and back to nursery each day
- Bi-annual Parents/Carers evenings/phone calls
- Nursery newsletters
- Opportunities at the start and/or end of the nursery day to talk to our team
Iconnect-Learning Journals
Iconnect is our online assessment system. The team at Greyfell Academy are able to assess, track and document children's learning, producing learning journals that encourage Parental/Carer engagement. Our team will make assessments across all areas of the early years foundation stage and the characteristics of effective learning. Parents/Carers are able to log into their own child's journal and look at what their children explore, achieve and learn at nursery. Parents/Carers are also very welcome to make comments and also upload photos and observations.
